F-ZREO. That is all there needs to be.* Dan will slap people who don't get what F-ZREO would stand for.
Sorry, I chose "No" before I read your comment. I thought you were talking about the newer stuff, which certainly has no need for re-orchestration. Though some of the old stuff doesn't need it either, if Sonic Adventure counts as old stuff (tell me with a straight face that Lost World doesn't have the most awesome music ever in a Sonic game). But some of the really old stuff would be very charming with re-orchestration.
I can easily lead this project, but I'm looking for:
Okay, I finished a reorch of Flying Battery zone. It's an orchestral reorch. Not sure if you just wanted techno type reorchs, but anyway, here it is: Click here to listen to flying-battery-zone_-_act1_2.mp3
You know, I hate to always be the asshole, but... Quote from: Larke12 on July 14, 2010, 10:21 AMI can easily lead this project, but I'm looking for:So basically what you're saying is that you'll lead the project, be the big man with his name on the label, but you wouldn't actually contribute to anything? I get that you'd like to see Sonic music orchestrated, but maybe you should've just made a post in the suggestion thread (Do we have one?) instead. No offense or anything, I'm just saying. Why would anyone want to work under someone who knows less about music than they do? It would be pretty disorganized, I would imagine.Anyway I don't think Sonic music is really appropriate for reorchestration, to be honest. Sonic is usually either jazz, funk, or a combination of the two (I'm no pro but I'm pretty sure Sonic 2 is mostly funk). Sonic CD, for example, is straight up Jazz Funk for the most part, and while Quartz Quadrant Good Future could sound cool, stuff like Stardust Speedway Bad Future would be almost completely impossible to orchestrate. Like, what would you do? Even the American version is crazy.I dunno. It's doable, for certain, but I dunno how good it would sound in comparison to just a rearrange album with you having all the instruments of the world at your disposal. There's no reason to limit yourself to an orchestra, ZREO did that because Zelda music in general often has an orchestral style.I think Sonic 1 could be reorchestrated pretty easy, you got the instrumentally ambiguous Green Hill Zone, the somber Marble Zone, Spring Yard wouldn't be so bad, Final Zone and Scrap Brain are both pretty epic, and Labyrinth is like Green Hill, so yeah go for that one. With Sonic 2 I'd recommend you don't neglect the bass, since the soundtrack was created by a Japanese bassist and the bassline is pretty much the heart of each track. And Sonic 3, I dunno about that one.I'm like, rambling now. Does my post make sense anymore?
Amazing song. I'd love to hear more!
Thanks! But, I am planning to redo this song and make it more close to the original (as far as instrumentation). I do have a new song: Starlight Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog!Click here to listen to Sonic_the_Hedgehog_-_Starlight_Zone_-_ReOrch.mp3
