I can remember the lovely music in la, oot, mm, etc. clearly. just awesome music! songs like "first time on koholint", "balade of wind fish", "mabe village", "lost woods", "windmill hut", "final battle" etc.

though, i can't remember any song from ph or mc... just 2 songs from tp("midnas desperate hour" and "hyrule field on foot").

the only newer zelda game i remember its good music was tww! nearly all bossfights(molgera, etc.), ocean theme, outset island, etc.

what did happen to the music in zelda games?!?! the music made over 30% of the game! for god sake, i want a zelda title with awesome music like in the oot/mm days! what the f*** happened?!?

yeah PH is like all recycled music. We need something new. Something not really heard yet that will be memorable. Well TP had some good songs in it actually.

I dunno, I thought TP had an awesome soundtrack for the most part...Sacred Grove, Hyrule Field...

They really do need to move to real orchestrations now, no more MIDI, no more synth stuff.

IMO its easier for the music to be fully dynamic when its synthed.

Besides, the synths these days sound so realistic anymore... i cannot complain about TP's music.  Or Wind Wakers.  Or any zelda game's.

yeah, tp and ph have nearly only recycled music...

its not about orchestra or midi, its about how the music goes. we need something new, memorable, well fitting not something old, just bg music, remixed and whatever!

The music is a big part of the game and yet they failed creating such music!

do you remember banjo kazzoie? whenever you move near something, the music changed slightly until its completely different. this would be a nice add on in the next zelda game, no?

I don't remember TP's music being recycled. PH's music was, definitely, and that was one of my biggest complaints with the game. But TP's soundtrack was awesome! All the dungeons, locales, bosses, etc. had different songs. Even all four quads of Hyrule Castle Town had different songs. I don't understand what you mean by "recycled."

Really, the only complaint I have with TP's soundtrack is the fact that it hasn't been released on CD at all. :(

1) Yeah the midis sound real good these days orch would be better. It sounded great in Super Mario Galaxy.
2) TP actually did have a good ammount of new music and was recycled sounded amazing.
3) WW soundtrack ftw. Although OoT has a good one as well and yeah probably actually the best, WW is my fav.

I found it funny that Koji made that big presentation about that specifically, then goes and directs the sound and music for Galaxy which...had more Orchestra music than any game before it.

Bahhh. They are messing with our HEADS!

The tough thing about the Zelda games is that there are so many good songs (especially from OOT) in the series that you CAN'T abandon the series' roots!  Musically, you're trapped.  I think that's what happened to the music.  The music in TP was, in my opinion, just great.  But I just listened to the ZREO OOT full soundtrack...and I'm about to go buy the game on VC...since it's just THAT GOOD!

If you want a new Zelda game with spectacular music, you'll have to be willing to not hear the same old songs redone.  We'll see what happens.

Additionally, thank you to ZREO....this is really great music!

I don't think it had any synth music or sounds in it. Nintendo advertised it as not one not of sound synthed.

Majora's Mask had some pretty good content as well (Song of Healing, Clocktown.)  It seems like the console Zeldas always have more memorable music when compared to their portable siblings.

Listen to the OST - theres about 60-40 synth to orchestra.

Koji does have a reputation for not doing very much different styles of work.  That has been his main critique (and only I think) that some people have.  Wind Waker and Twilight Princess had a virtually completely original soundtrack.  Of course some things never change (item get), but it would have been nice to hear something different for Phantom Hourglass.  Hopefully there isn't a rush into the next game.

OoT's music, in my opinion, wasn't all that great.  The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess greatly surpassed it.

I think you need to listen to the Minish Cap soundtrack.  It had console-quality sound.

Yeah it was actually posted on the old forums. And I don't think it's on Amazon. But yeah I'd totally buy it if I could find it.
