Begin!

Firstly, which land are we in? Can't be Hyrule if it's the direct sequel to PH, unless Link travels through time.

Discuss!

I think it's the new land of Hyrule (unless they aren't naming it Hyrule). It looks like the story will be a sequel to Wind Waker and we'll see what new lands they will find to settle.

Zelda is probably the only game coming out this year that would make me buy a DSi right away if they make it for DSi exclusively.

I've already worried myself to the concept.  I would hate to be forced to buy a DSi, but would gladly do so if it means being able to play Spirit Tracks!  What I'm really looking for in this game, is a more unique storyline, and more items.  It would appear that the graphics got a little bit of a face lift, or I could be wrong.  Definitely a promisingly looking title! ^_^

I don't like the unnecessary amount of more items.

More items don't make a game good. Their use does, I'll give you that.
Hopefully we'll see some newer items, but I just don't think an overloading amount would be wise.

Of course we don't want too many items.  At least some more items that incorporate more use of the DS's capabilities.  The boomerang was fun to play with in PH

They announced Hybrid cartridges along with ST...I'm more willing to bet this will be a Hybrid. Afterall, Iwata said this game is for us (notice...at least from what I read from live feeds, he said this is for the fans, nothing about trying to bring the casuals into the franchise...good sign?)

Well we were shown one new item...the thingy that pretty much does what the Gale Boomerang did. Henrie also said the Deku Leaf, but not quite. The DL was mostly for floating, barely used in puzzles relating to its gust-attack capabilities.

This one...well, its not the Gale Boomerang but it seems to have a similar function. It does reveal a completely new item, something PH lacked.

Also...the Phantom. New mechanic! It always needs SOMETHING to make it stand out!
This Phantom companion looks like a cool idea.
Bashers: does it really look like TWW's escort missions? Honestly, this dude you control to attack, and it seems like a very quick and easy thing to do

They could have added a coop play and replace the Phantom with your friend. That'd be something of a plus to it.

Um...well we dont know if they have or not. I was thinking the same as I wrote my last post.

Again, dude, they said nothing about this game yet, except that its coming out this year.
Maybe a friend could control the Phantom.

I dont see how coop is necessarily a plus anyway. That's not very Zelda-y, right? :P

Well, I think using/controlling Medli and Makar was great fun. And the Goron part from Ph was fun too.

I think he's not used very much.. perhaps in a temple only, like most of the Link gameplay was shown to be at a dungeon

I have watched the trailer again and you are right: It works more like the gale boomerang.

I considered FS on the GBA a very good example of how Zelda coop can be.

Who cares about the multiplayer modes?

What about the actual story, the thing that makes Zelda great?

Just a complete stab in the dark: Hundreds of years have passed since Ph. The islands of the great sea have grown together and there is a new Zelda. A young boy called Link works as a trainconductor and brings mail around. One day when he wants to deliver mail to the princess something strange crosses his tracks. A EVIL GHOSTTRAIN comes out of nowhere and knocks Link out. When Link wakes up he realizes that something is not right in the land of Hyrule.  Could this be the return of Bellum (hopefully not, he wasn't that good), the evil spoken of in legends? He decides to quickly jump on his train again and deliver the letter to princess Zelda. Maybe she knows more about the matter...

I absolutely cannot wait for this game. I loved Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks looks like it'll be nearly the same thing.

Lame name though. Like, Spirit Tracks? Okay...

Well as soon as i heard this game was coming out i pulled out my DS and started to Play PH. I got up what im guessing is the midpoint (after you get all three spirits). And so far the story has almost nothing to do with windwaker except the fact that it takes play after it. I am hoping this "Spirit" Tracks" kinda goes back to a main storyline with a much stonger story than i am finding in PH.

^I don't think Wind Waker's ending leave much room for a real continuation, but that's just me...

I dont either. Everyone always expects an immediate continuation or something.

But so far it looks like it would be impossible for ST to be a direct sequel to PH, so it probably takes place many years after it. Meaning, the story is probably much less of a side story. Notice, Link is back in Hyrule, and usually side stories take place outside of it.
