Disney Interactive oficially announced today Epic Mickey.  With this announcement, the company released some screenshots and artwork of the game:

In an interview with ONM, Warren Spector said that Epic Mickey was originally a multi format game before him and Disney Interactive Studios took the decision to make it Wii exclusive. Spector revealed that Disney Interactive Studios allowed him to focus on the Wii version alone in order to make the very best game he could.

Epick Mickey will be available in fall 2010.

Well, it doesn't look nearly as intriguing as the concept art. But I should see it in action first. My excitement has gone down very much, but it's too early to cross it off my list. That said, the concept still sounds cool.

that concept art would have been literally impossible to translate on even the highest end PC around today. People need to stop being retarded into thinking any machine is capable of turning that concept art into real time 3D models.

I never was thinking that, but you have to agree that this is far off. In fact, this doesn't really look wii-worthy (graphics-wise). But what's your opinion on the screenshots?

The screens look fine. Two things you need to remember are that the whole basis of the game revolves around literally building and erasing the game world as you play. Like Okami on a much huger scale, not limited to leaves on a tree or a bridge here and there. The other thing is that we are looking at the what is essentially the hub world, or intro level. It would be pretty stupid to judge a platformers entire design off the hub world or the first level alone. The game isn't done, and the graphics engine isn't finished either, warren spector says it himself. They didn't show a trailer at the press event today, and its still a year away from release. I'm pretty confident that the title will look even better when its done, i'm also pretty sure Junction Point is going to take every irrational statement made by gamers today and feel pretty mad at themselves for even posting screens today to begin with.

If the animation tests are any indication it's going to look incredible in motion

What's up with the Nintendo 64-like graphics?

Looks neat! Granted, the game still is in its early stages, but still, I'm gonna keep this on my watchlist.

Have any of you seen the little fighting animation? Despite the early stages of the project, it looks very fluid.

Yeah, I have to admit the fighting animation looked very good. The song we heard sounded good too. And it's nice to see that they are using the old Mickey design.

Maybe I was a bit to harsh. Graphics-wise it could have been done on ps2/gamecube, but it doesn't look that bad. And yeah, there's still time to improve it. It's still a intriguing concept, and I will keep an eye on it.

I haven't seen the animation...link maybe? Pleeeease?

It looks good to me, the screenshots even. The style is fitting, and even now it still looks better than so many other games on the platform.
I'm liking this game.
