This should be interesting. It doesn't take long to play through the 2D Zeldas. A Link to the Past can be finished within 90 minutes if they skip the heart pieces. The first two games are even shorter (will they include the original game's second quest as mandatory?).
The 3D Zeldas on the other hand will require lots of patience to sit through. Ocarina lasts long enough without hunting for heart pieces and gold skulltulas. Majora can be finished fast enough if they take advantage of clearing multiple dungeons within a single 3 day cycle. Wind Waker will last a while, even if they skip the majority of heart pieces and treasure charts. Sailing is long. Twilight Princess should last the longest among them. 9 very long dungeons with lots of overworld quests in-between.

Well if they get all the songs for WW that'll help with the sailing as they'll have the ones to teleport around.

Even with the teleportation, it still takes a bit of time to hunt down the triforce charts, decipher them, and hunt the pieces themselves. Money isn't much of an issue as places like Overlook Island and Savage Labyrinth are packed with rupees, but it should be interesting to see how much rupee hunting they'll have to do to come up with 3200 rupees, and how much time that will consume in the long run.
The last Wind Waker speed run I watched took about 6 and a half hours of playtime. This should be fun.

I know it's for a good cause and all, but another Zelda marathon?
Can't people come up with a different series to do a marathon for?

I haven't seena Mega Man marathon for charity yet, I'd like to see that. Actually The Speed Gamers did a Mega Man Marathon back in August: Mega Man Marathon (August 2009) Series: Mega Man Date: August 14-17, 2009 Length: 72 hours Games: Mega Man 1, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6, Mega Man 7, Mega Man 8, Mega Man 9, Mega Man and Bass, Mega Man X1, Mega Man X2, Mega Man X3, Mega Man X4, Mega Man X5, Mega Man X6, Mega Man X8, Mega Man X Command Mission, Mega Man 64 (Legends), Mega Man Legends 2, Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue Charity/money raised: Earth Day Network / $7,188.06 I think there's a lot of Zelda marathons because that's what attract more people hence more money. I'm pretty sure that there are more Zelda lovers out there than any other franchise.

That marathjon was rather recent and I missed it, so I can't be blamed for not thinking there was one.
Either way, I still think the Zelda marathon os overdone...

Indeed. It's the only one I'm aware of, at least for now.
